This resource is a blog post on the Scholastic website by Alycia Zimmerman, a grade 3-5 teacher with some experiences to impart. Alycia talks, in this post, about organising her classroom library to ensure students feel invited and want to read from her extensive library of books. This is a great resource for both new and old teachers who are struggling to find a way to display their classroom library. Alycia talks about wanting her students to discover books that speak to them, as they fall in love with reading. I would use this resource to gain a better understanding about how I might display my books in my future classroom. I have been collecting a large variety of books but have not yet considered how displaying them might have an impact on students.

This resource is a blog post by Caroline Bologna, published in the Huffpost. This post identifies 17 children’s books that promote understanding of Autism. When it comes to what books you should put in your classroom library, as mentioned above, it is actually very crucial. 1 in 59 children in the U.S have been diagnosed with autism, which is why it is important for us to educate our students about this disorder. Having these books, or at least some of them, in your classroom library would help promote understanding and acceptance for kids on the spectrum. I would definitely use this resource when deciding what books to purchase for my personal classroom library. I think books like these are not something that you may think about often, and therefore, this resource itself helps to raise awareness amongst our schools.

This resource is a Pinterest post by Mrs. Middle School about instructional signage on the writing process. This resource would act as inspiration for teachers when they decorate their classrooms. I think this poster would be a very beneficial piece to be included in the classroom and seems like an easy way to help students learn about the writing process. This poster can be easily constructed and altered to suit the writing process that the teacher has demonstrated. I would use this resource in my classroom and would display the poster in a place for students to easily see, all year round.

This resource is an article from Victoria State Government about designing a literacy rich environment. This article discusses the benefits, key components, the theory, and examples of creating a literacy rich environment. It has been said that a literacy rich environment allows us, as teachers, to facilitate the development of literacy behaviours in a meaningful and authentic way. This resource will teach educators how to design their classroom in order to promote literacy behaviours and allows students to interact with everyday literacies. I would use this resource to educate myself on how I might design my classroom as a first year teacher, where I will starting from scratch.

This resource is a set of genre posters that can be hung around the classroom. The pack that can be purchased includes thirty posters with a different genre on each. The poster includes a definition of the genre as well as a little description about what you might find in the genre. This would be a great resource to have in your classroom that can all be displayed at the beginning of the year, or can be hung up as you teach the different genres. I would use this resource as an activity as well. I could get students to pick one of the genres out of a hat and then take the corresponding poster, and then they would have to find an example of that genre online. Or students could do the opposite and they could read an example of a genre and then as a class, choose which genre it would be.
